A Vision For Success
Have you ever done something in
which you excelled? Have you ever
pushed the boundaries and the expectations of your peers? If you think about it, I am sure there
were plenty of times when you went above and beyond the mediocrity that society
seems to dwell on.
Success starts from a vision.
Whether it is creating a company, getting in shape, or whatever it may
be, it is important to have some sort of road map to show how you are going to get to that place
you labeled as success. In my
recent blog, The 8 reasons why you are
still fat. http://ampedathletics.blogspot.com I went over the main reasons that are
holding you back from attaining the body you have always wanted. Today I would like to go further into
reason number 3, the vision and belief needed to reach success.
In my opinion, the reason why
businesses fail is the same reason why people do not find “success” at the
gym. They do not have a clear
vision. Someone who wants to lose 40 pounds in 6 months will probably
not reach their goal. Why? It’s simple: that person set a goal but
not a clear vision. Anyone can
simply state they want to do something.
Saying it out loud is nice, but what is the driving force behind why you
want to do it? What is the deeper
meaning behind that goal? Before
even stepping into the gym, that individual should mentally prepare themselves
for the next six months and envision what success means to them. Why do you want to lose 40 pounds? So you can live longer to watch your
children grow up? So you can live
each day with less back pain? So
you can do more activities that you truly enjoy? When you start to get descriptive and map out your vision
for success, you start to automatically put the pieces of the puzzle together.
Once you find that deeper meaning of why you really want to achieve a
goal, it will be that much easier to stay focused and dedicated to your
particular craft.
Envisioning something is a process
that never goes away. More than
likely the road map will alter as you start taking action. There is nothing wrong with taking a
different path than you once envisioned.
What’s important is to always move forward and to understand the road
can be bumpy at times. The business
might not have the numbers you projected.
You might reach a plateau in the gym. The underlying
meaning keeps the individual afloat during turbulent times. Remember, it is not just to lose
weight; it is to lose the weight so one day you will watch your son/daughter
get married. It is that deeper meaning that drives us past the bumps in the
road and right towards that special purpose we desire.
We have a natural tendency to not
ask for help. Maybe it’s because
asking for help makes us feel weak or defeated, but that is far from the
truth. Even the most successful
innovators needed a team to help their business thrive. It
is important to understand that you are not good at everything, but you are
great at a few things. Knowing your strengths and weaknesses is crucial in
regards to building the right team. Steve Jobs was an extraordinary innovator
while Steve Wozniak was a great developer. If Wozniak were not present, Jobs would have had an
extremely difficult time creating the company we know today as Apple. Without the right team, it is nearly
impossible for a business to get off the ground. The same pertains to living a healthy lifestyle. Once the vision is established, it is
important to have a supportive team.
Training with a friend who has a similar vision can be beneficial. As the team starts to become more
advanced due to consistency and belief,
they start to learn from each other.
